Neco Celik, born 1972 in Berlin/Kreuzberg. Celik has made numerous documentaries and short films. He shot his first feature films in 2002 "Alltag" (ARD) and in 2003 "Urban Guerillas" which was shown at the Berlinale in 2004. In 2004, Celik was titled "Spike Lee von Kreuzberg" by the FAZ am Sonntag.

 

In 2005, he directed the dramatic film comedy "Kısık ateşte 15 dakika", his first Turkish language feature film in Istanbul. Celik has been staging plays, operas and dance theater since 2006. First of all, the "Black Maidens" UA by Feridun Zaimoglu and Günter Senkel at the Berliner Stadttheater Hebbel am Ufer (HAU) in 2007, then Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", also at HAU. In the same year, Celik received a scholarship from the Academy of Arts, in the "Performing Arts" section Numerous engagements followed at the Munich Kammerspiel, Stadttheater Oberhausen, Schauspielhaus Bochum, Theater Freiburg, Berlin State Opera, State Theater Braunschweig.

 

In 2011, his first opera directorial work was for "Gegen die Wand", by Ludger Vollmer and for the film of the same name by Fatih Akin at the Stuttgart State Opera, he was awarded the "Faust" German theater prize in the music theater category. Most recently, Celik developed his five-part TV series “Crews&Gangs” (RTL2) The series is currently being broadcast on joyn.de.

 

Away from his directorial work, Celik is a sought-after industry head: companies such as Daimler AG, Daimler Financial Services AG and the A&B One communications group as well as state institutions such as the federal headquarters for political education and the Foreign Office regularly engage him as an artistic consultant.
